Weird food day!

Sometimes gambling with the menu doesn't pay off.
Stuart's diet for today.
Breakfast: Curry on a bed of spaghetti followed by a sweet bun with a topping of sausages, mayonnaise and sweetcorn.
Midday snack: Roasted chestnuts deep-fried in a sticky batter.
Dinner: Malaysian mint curry soup. The ingredients were: spaghetti, dried bean curd, something that looked like meat but tasted a bit like parsnip, prawns and chicken in a spicy soup-topped with loads of MINT!!!
Drink: Black iced jelly. Didn't taste of much, but the shock came upon the first suck of the straw. Lots of slithers of black jelly hit my tongue-most to my suprise. A drink more at home on the set of Star Trek I think.
Very weird, very, very weird.

That sounds great! Anyway, seems to be more fun than old boring sweet and sour chicken...
Oh yeah - forgot about "Ice Kachang". No idea how it's spelt. Dessert very popular in Malaysia - black/red jelly, sweet beans and strange green stuff, all with lots of crushed ice, topped with chopped nuts and sweet sauces, e.g. strawberry.
Not exactly a dish with a history of centuries, methinks, but it's definitely one the Malaysians go for.
Also, if you're feeling brave, try Durian fruit. I think they're in season. Football-sized spiky things that smell like rotting meat. Inside them are bits of flesh that are like pure ambrosia. Apparently. I've never really gotten close enough to taste one, but my mother's absolutely mad for the things.
